I was reading through Mike's "Friday Blitz" column and it made me wonder how everybody is feeling about our Falcons. It's been over 30 days since we went out and laid an absolute egg against the eventual Super Bowl Champion NY Giants. We've changed both coordinators and have some critical free agents decisions as well as the draft right around the horizon. The Falcons are coming off of a 10-6 season and have gone 43-21 in the regular season under Mike Smith. As of right now, how are we feeling about our Falcons? Are we confident that they will break through next season? Do we think they remain stuck as a second-tier NFC team that is just below the Super Bowl contenders? Or are we taking a wait and see attitude?
Leave us a comment and let us know how you are currently feeling about the Falcons...
Right now I'm optimistic for the future, as far as this year goes I think we're in rebuilding mode, we'll probably miss the playoffs and lose s key player or two in FA, but I'm very optimistic about our younger players
@Zach K. A little weird to think rebuilding mode after a 10 win season. I expect some change, but I don't think you gut a playoff team.
@mFalcons5 Well we've basically already gutted the team on the coaching side. Wouldn't surprise me if we cut/ let a lot of the vets walk. The young guys have flashed enough for me to be comfortable with it at least.
@CFBZ Franks, Dent, Sidbury, Adkins, Owens, and Walls
@Zach K. Which young guys are you referring to? Franks and Dent?
@mFalcons5@Zach K. I'm with Matt on this one. We are still clearly the second best team in the division and I don't see us dropping completely off the map with Mike Smith at the helm. I'm disappointed in last season but still optimistic that we can make some noise come this season. I wasn't expecting us to win the Super Bowl this season after the way we played during the regular season but the NYG game was definitely a kick in the gut.
Cautious optimism. I think the defense should improve under Nolan, but our defense is rarely the problem.
My biggest concern is how Koetter will run this offense, and whether or not Atlanta can finally open up the offense in a way that will finally let us beat playoff caliber teams.
staying positive... but if the Falcons let some big names like Grimes and Lofton walk, i will quickly change my tune
@ColossalChicken Yep. It's going to be a big off-season. If they do let those guys walk it will be very interesting to see who is brought in.
