The Friday Blitz: Atlanta Falcons Mock Draft
Falcon fans, we are just a few weeks away from the 2012 NFL Draft! This week I decided to give you my first full mock draft. Over the next couple weeks I will continue to throw out different draft scenarios. Please feel free to comment whether or not you agree or disagree. Second round -Dwayne Allen TE Clemson- He is a matchup nightmare and with Tony Gonzalez entering his final season it is time to look to the future.
Third round -Brandon Boykin DB Georgia- Boykin is the perfect fit to solve Atlanta’s woes in the nickel. He is explosive and can contribute immediately on special teams filling the void left by Eric Weems.
Fifth round –Vontaze Burfict LB Arizona State- At one time Burfict was expected to be a solid first round selection, but his off the field problems along with lackluster pro days have him projected in the fifth or sixth round. This guy was a playmaker in college; with 5-0 skipping town it is only natural to assume MLB will be a need later in the draft.
Sixth round -Dominique Hamilton DE Missouri- Hamilton would be a interesting fit into the Mike Nolan defense. Hamilton is a project player, but he fills a need that Atlanta needs to address. The theme of draft is depth. Hamilton will dive right into the battle for 3rd string along with Lawrence Sidbury.
Seventh round -Landon Walker LT Clemson- Atlanta seems set on addressing their offensive line through free agency and in house. Personally, I would prefer drafting a LT early on in the draft but I am betting on a free agent coming to town within the next few weeks. Walker would be a steal if he slips into the seventh round, if he drops…take him!
Seventh round -Jaymes Brooks OG West Virginia- the Falcons will be drafting depth in the late rounds this year. I see both the 7th round picks addressing the offensive line. Brooks would add depth at guard that is sorely needed.

@GritsBlitzBlog disagree with MLB in hte draft and I wouldn't touch Burfict with a 10 ft pole.
@scar988 @GritsBlitzBlog He's been called undraftable for months, and seems to keep doing worse.
@scar988 I agree. Not sure what @colossalchicken is thinking wanting Burfict on the team. He's a complete nutcase.
@ColossalChicken @GritsBlitzBlog but we arent going to do that with draft burfict and well mlb isnt a need.
@GritsBlitzBlog @scar988 If we got Allen and then Boykin in Round 3, I would throw a Falcons party. And both of you would get an invite.
@alex__welch @scar988 Yeah, I don't think Boykin will fall into the third unless he was hanging out with Rambo on spring break
