What Are They Saying About the Falcons/Broncos Match-Up?

Written by Kevin on .

With the game right around the corner let's take a look at what some sites are saying about Monday nights game between the Falcons and the Broncos....

Key Matchup: Falcons wide receivers vs. Broncos cornerbacks

The Falcons are bigger and more physical at wide receiver than Pittsburgh. Roddy White and Julio Jones have a rare blend of size and quickness. They form one of the league’s best duos at the position......With some questions lingering about Atlanta’s ground game (23 carries for 84 yards in Week One), if the Broncos can generate enough of a pass rush to force the Falcons to run the ball, the Broncos will have a chance to keep a dangerous offense at least somewhat bottled up.

Denver Broncos eye on: Atlanta Falcons

Who's hot: The Broncos' secondary will have a tough matchup against the Falcons' receivers and tight ends. Second-year WR Julio Jones is emerging as a potential star. He caught six passes for 108 yards and two touchdowns against the Chiefs.

Who's not: The Falcons' defense gave up chunks of yards, including 152 yards rushing and 241 passing to the Chiefs. After one week, Atlanta ranks No. 23 in total defense.

Week 2: Broncos-Falcons Matchup

The Falcons have the makings of a true contender if they can get the ground game untracked to match their explosive passing attack. QB Matt Ryan had a 102.9 passer rating at home last season and Peyton Manning needs some time before Denver’s offense can hang in this matchup.

*Our pick: Falcons 28-23

Denver at Atlanta Preview:

While Week 1 for the offense couldn't have gone better for Atlanta, the Falcons lost star cornerback Brent Grimes to a season-ending Achilles injury.

Christopher Owens, one of the players expected to have to step up with Grimes out, is looking forward to facing Manning.

"This is like facing Mike Tyson in a 12-round bout, but I'm excited for the opportunity," Owens said. "It's unfortunate what happened with Grimes, but the next man's got to step up, and that's the mentality you've got to have with this team."

Just when you think the Falcons are on the rise, both offensively and defensively....they lose their fanchise-tagged, pro-bowl corner. WOW....I know it's early....but this is a must win game for the DirtyBirds....why?? Can you CONFIDENCE??

@ScarletAndGray Thanks for commenting. I don't know if I would put it in the "must win" bucket simply because the Falcons did win their opener but I can see your rationale. There is no doubt that this is a big game, especially because it's in front of a National TV audience.

@CFBZ  @ScarletAndGray It should be a more difficult game than the Chiefs.  It is rough losing Grimes but the rest of the NFC South looks like a mess.  May be awhile until we have a must win type game.
