Falcons mini-camp started today so we do have a bit of news coming out of Flowery Branch in what has been a pretty non-news worthy last few weeks. Here is some of the stuff that's going on in Falcons land...

Falcons Sign TE
The Falcons have waived TE Anthony Miller and have signed Colin Cloherty. Not the huge free agency signing that you were probably looking for but the Falcons continue to take looks at different TEs with Tony Gonzalez's impending retirement at the end of the year. Cloherty has been on Indianapolis, San Francisco and Jacksonville over the last four years and has five career receptions with four of them coming in the 2011 season for the Jaguars. He could stick because of his ability to play special teams but I probably wouldn't wager any money on it.
The Young Corners are making an impression
Daniel Cox has a piece over at AtlantaFalcons.com about the rookie corners making their mark early. Cox states that the young corners, Desmond Trufant and Robert Alford, performed well against the top duo of wide receivers in the league, Julio Jones and Roddy White. The youngsters are definitely bringing some excitement to the corner position in practice and it will be fun watching them progress this season.
Osi Umenyiora and Steven Jackson having a positive impact on teammates
When you sign free agents you hope to get a player that is going to be productive and will live up to their contact. The early results for Osi and Steven have been very positive as I've been hearing nothing but good things about both of their work ethics and their leadership skills. The most recent has come from none other than Julio Jones who says Osi is working out at the facility every morning before anyone even gets there. From Steven Jackson, Julio Jones is learning more about his diet and his work ethic. Having two more positive influences on the team will do nothing but help.
